Next, we will examine World War II and its profound effects on the nation and the world. We will analyze the Cold War, the Civil Rights Movement, and the changing social and political landscape of the 1960s and 1970s.
In the final stretch, we will study recent events such as the end of the Cold War, the War on Terror, and the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century. What Makes This US History Curriculum Special?
History class is only valuable if it can be applied. Every topic and lesson will be directly connected to the learner. We study the past to make sense of the present and plan for the future- connecting the dots on how to do this is a core aspect of my class.
My curriculum encourages students to explore a wide range of viewpoints, ideologies, and historical interpretations. By presenting multiple perspectives, we can foster critical thinking and help students develop their own informed opinions.
Critical Thinking Skills
I prioritize and foster the development of critical thinking skills through thoughtful analysis of primary and secondary sources. Students will learn to evaluate evidence, consider context, and engage in rigorous historical inquiry.
I recognize the importance of understanding historical events from a bipartisan standpoint. I strive to present balanced accounts that provide insights into both conservative and liberal perspectives, promoting understanding and fostering respectful dialogue.
When it comes to history - accuracy is crucial! My curriculum has been developed over nearly two decades in very diverse school environments and is meticulously researched and continually updated to ensure that it reflects the most current historical scholarship.
I believe in embracing diverse perspectives to enrich students' understanding of history. My curriculum includes the voices and experiences of people from various backgrounds, races, genders, and socioeconomic statuses, ensuring a more inclusive and holistic narrative.
